Council Summary September 2024

To ensure members of the Lester B. Pearson School Board community remain up-to-date regarding what transpires at regular Council of Commissioners meetings, the Department of Communications and Community Development sends out summaries of the different decisions that are taken following each meeting.

Administrative Staffing Changes 2024-2025 (Schools/Centres) – Amendment (Sept. 2024)
The Council of Commissioners approved that Alexandra Desbiens-Leighton be appointed Coordinator of Student Services of the Lester B. Pearson School Board, effective September 23, 2024 (probationary status).
1. The Council of Commissioners approved that Alexandra Desbiens-Leighton be appointed Coordinator of Student Services of the Lester B. Pearson School Board, effective September 23, 2024 (probationary status).
2. The Council of Commissioners approved that the administrative assignment changes in the schools and centres of the Lester B. Pearson School Board described in the chart below entitled Administrative Staffing Assignments 2024-2025 (Schools and Centers) be adopted.
Other Administrative Decisions
3. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Policy on Equity, Diversity, Dignity and Inclusion, dated September 16, 2024, be adopted.
4. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Lester B. Pearson School Board adopt and transmit, to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec, its 2024-2025 operating, investment and debt service balanced budget with anticipated revenues and expenses of $402,961,309.00. 5. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Director General be authorized to take all necessary decisions and all necessary measures required to ensure the continuity of operations for the period between September 20 and November 18, 2024, and for this purpose, including, but not limited to, appoint or dismiss the required personnel and issue orders and contracts in accordance with the applicable laws and the School Board policies in force, as well as the available budget and that the Director General report to the Council of Commissioners on decisions and measures taken to ensure continuity of operations during this period.
6. The Council of Commissioners approved that the remuneration to be remitted to the members of the Council of Commissioners of the Lester B. Pearson School Board be established in accordance with the maximum amount determined by Order in Council 1216-2024 and distributed as follows:
- Chair: 2 shares
- Vice-Chair: 1.5 share
- Commissioners: 12 shares (July 1 to November 3, 2024)
13 shares (November 4 to June 30, 2025) - CGTSIM Delegate: 0 share
- CGTSIM Substitute: 0.5 share
