Mount Pleasant Elementary Launches Orange Shirt Fundraiser for National Truth and Reconciliation Day
submitted by Jackie Langlois,
Communications & Treasurer for Mt Pleasant Home & School Association
In a heartfelt initiative for National Truth and Reconciliation Day this September, Mount Pleasant Elementary’s Home & School team is proud to announce an orange shirt fundraiser aimed at supporting Indigenous youth.
This meaningful project was developed in consultation with Aboriginal families from our school community and features a distinctive design created by one of our dedicated parents. The proceeds will support Tasiutigiit, a vital organization providing programs for Indigenous children in the foster care system through their “Camp Thrive” initiative. We expect to donate over $1400 to Tasiutigiit.
The shirt design symbolizes a journey of healing: white birds for those lost, birds for those in the healing process, and birds that have been set free. 🕊️
Principal Mme Dominique Daoust, her staff, and many students and parents will proudly wear their t-shirts on September 30th, further showcasing our school’s commitment to this important cause. This exclusive shirt design is only available through Mount Pleasant Elementary, making it a unique way to support Indigenous youth and contribute to a meaningful initiative.
For more information on how to get involved or to learn more about the fundraiser, please contact the Mount Pleasant Elementary Home & School team. The exclusive shirts will also be available for purchase at the Mt Pleasant Welcome Back BBQ on September 19th 5-7pm (Hudson, QC), for anyone who didn’t preorder in June.
