Montréal Alouettes Dance Team visits LaSalle Elementary Senior

submitted by Michael Putré, Physical Education Teacher, LaSalle Elementary

Two representatives from the Équipe de danse des Alouettes de Montréal visited LaSalle Elementary Senior School on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

Brianna and Gabrielle A. were special guests for a lunchtime assembly with members of the LaSalle Elementary Girls Basketball Team. The LaSalle Elementary Girls Basketball Program is comprised of over 80 female student-athletes from grades 3-6. A large emphasis of the program is to introduce team members to positive female role models involved in a variety of professional and amateur sports.

The unique assembly began with an up close and personal performance from the two outstanding Montréal Alouettes dancers. The special guests demonstrated one of their popular dance routines they routinely performed during the regular season at numerous home games at McGill – Percival Molson Stadium. Following a brief question and answer period, Brianna and Gabrielle introduced 20 members of the LaSalle Girls Basketball Team to three unique dance choreographies. The LaSalle Basketball Girls were quick to pickup on the dance moves and performed the routines several times both with and without music. The assembly concluded with an unforgettable photoshoot. The Montreal Alouettes dancers posed for numerous group and individual photos and even performed cartwheels with the members of the LaSalle Girls Basketball team.

Following the holiday break, the 2024-2025 basketball season will resume for the LaSalle Girls Basketball teams with upcoming jamborees/tournaments at McGill University, Sacred Heart High School and John Rennie High School. In addition, the team will compete in numerous exhibition games with both elementary and high school teams. The season will once again culminate in June with the second annual Girls Glow in the Dark Basketball Game which will feature both current and alumni LaSalle Elementary Senior Basketball Girls!
