This year the Autism Spectrum Disorder Centre of Excellence (ASD COE) is marking Autism Appreciation Month in several ways.

This year to celebrate Autism Appreciation Month the Centre of Excellence has been collecting artworks from our talented Autistic Artists and is showcasing them on the COE website as a virtual gallery.
Here we present a small sample of the images available on the virtual gallery.
Within the LBPSB, a book written by an Autistic author will be distributed to all our schools. See the flyer explaining this initiative, which is being distributed in April, here.
We are also sharing a new professional development video on the ASD COE website.
Over the years, our understanding of autism has shifted from a deficits-based model to a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming perspective. This presentation explores how definitions, approaches, and strategies have evolved, highlighting the voices of autistic creators and the importance of affirming autistic identity. By recognizing and valuing neurodiversity, we can foster more inclusive and supportive environments for autistic individuals across all stages of life.
