Beechwood Home & School Selected for $5,000 Grant

submitted by Joanna Turowetz, Beechwood Home & School
Beechwood Home & School has been proudly selected as one of the 2026 Canada Post Community Foundation grant recipients, receiving $5,000 toward its schoolyard improvement project.

Members of the Beechwood Home & School executive team, supported by school principal James Benn, attended a Community Recognition Event at the Pointe-Claire Post Office, where they were presented with a cheque and commemorative plaque in recognition of this achievement.

The Canada Post Community Foundation supports charities, schools, and community organizations that make a difference in the lives of children and youth. This year, the Foundation is awarding $1.3 million to organizations across Canada, helping bring meaningful initiatives to life in communities nationwide.

For Beechwood, this grant marks an important first step toward creating a more inclusive and welcoming schoolyard. The project aims to introduce accessible equipment and improve outdoor spaces where students of all abilities can play, explore, and connect with one another.

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of Beechwood Home & School, school staff, and community partners to enhance the school experience for all students. The grant brings the schoolyard vision one step closer to reality, creating more opportunities for children to enjoy their outdoor environment together.

The achievement was also covered by The Suburban, recognizing the community support behind initiatives that benefit local students.

Beechwood Home & School extends its sincere thanks to Phil Rogers, Business Manager, and his team for hosting the recognition event, as well as to the Canada Post Community Foundation, its employees, and its customers whose contributions make these grants possible.

With this funding, Beechwood looks forward to taking the next steps toward a schoolyard that better serves its students and strengthens the sense of community that makes the school such a welcoming place to learn and grow.
