CF Montreal Goalkeeper Kicks it at St. Anthony’s
by Helena Tsitouras
St. Anthony Elementary’s grade 6 students enjoyed an afternoon filled with excitement as CF Montreal’s goaltender, Logan Ketterer visited the school.
Students were first introduced to Ketterer as he gave a presentation on his life as a professional athlete. He discussed his upbringing and told the story of how he came to play for Montreal’s soccer team. In his presentation, he highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying active. He used the lessons he has learned in his career and presented them in school situations for students to easily understand.
Once the presentation concluded, students were invited to ask the goaltender any questions they may have. Many students were curious to learn more about the teams he had played for previously, what some of his favourite sports outside of soccer were, and what his childhood was like. Ketterer was attentive and responsive to each student.
To end a wonderful afternoon spent together, Ketterer and the group of grade 6 students moved to the gymnasium where they competed in a few friendly rounds of soccer. Students divided into 3 teams, with Logan Ketterer taking turns to play on each team. Everyone enthusiastically participated in the soccer matches, which even led to their Physical Education teacher joining in the fun! The gymnasium was filled with laughter and cheers as students applauded their peers.
This event was made possible with CF Montreal’s partnership with the Pearson Educational Foundation (PEF) a foundation that benefits LBPSB students. This has led to a special offer, an afternoon with one of CF Montreal’s own. St. Anthony Elementary happily accepted and welcomed him with open arms.
The students at St. Anthony Elementary School enjoyed their time with Logan Ketterer. They did not only leave with valuable life lessons, but with happy memories of playing with the professional soccer player in their own gymnasium.
