General building maintenance, residential and commercial drafting, and professional sales are just some of the wonderful career programs offered at VACC in Verdun.

“Our programs are truly enrichening providing the knowledge and skills to enter the workforce well prepared and ready to start an exciting and fulfilling career,” says VACC Director, Michael Clark.

As registration ramps up for some programs in the January session, here is an overview of what they are all about.

General Building Maintenance (GBM)

Enjoy working with your hands and taking pride in seeing the results of a job well done? Our general building maintenance program gives you the skills to work as a building caretaker, superintendent or concierge in residential and commercial properties.

This 900 hour Diplôme d’Études Professionnelles (DEP) includes a stage in the industry.

Every business requires building maintenance services making this a profession that is in demand!

“The General Building Maintenance program allows students to develop a rotund set of skills and prepare them for a career that is in demand. It’s amazing to see students develop capacity and confidence through this program, as they gain hands on experience that they can use in their own lives, in the workforce or as a springboard for further education. I always love seeing the wonderful projects they create and the pride in their work,” explains Michael.

Residential and Commercial Drafting

In search of a career that combines technical skills with creativity and design? The Residential and Commercial Drafting program could be your calling! A draftsperson is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings for the buildings and structures, bringing abstract design to life. Working alongside architects and engineers and with the growth of the construction and manufacturing industries, the demand for skilled draftspersons is high.

Students are trained on the latest software like REVIT & AUTOCAD.

Residential and Commercial Drafting at VACC

This 1800-hour Diplôme d’Études Professionnelles (DEP) includes a stage in the industry.

“I’m always impressed when I get to see the Residential and Drafting students’ work projects and the incredible amount of talent they have making use of the software seem easy,” says Michael.

Professional Sales

Looking to stand out in the competitive business world? Whether you are pitching your plan for your new business to an investor, selling the latest product to the public or working to expand your company’s margins, sales skills are vital to all business ventures.

This 900 hour Diplôme d’Études Professionnelles (DEP) includes a stage in the industry.

This program will help you develop the latest strategies and techniques for retail sales and customer service and how to effectively communicate with customers and build lasting relationships. Learn how to sell yourself, communicate, and negotiate.

“It’s great to see students learn so many skills that can transfer directly to everyday situations, constantly improving in communicating and interacting with others,” says Mike.
