Council Summary: February 2026

To ensure members of the Lester B. Pearson School Board community remain up-to-date regarding what transpires at regular Council of Commissioners meetings, the Department of Communications and Community Development sends out summaries of the different decisions that are taken following each meeting.

Please find below highlights of some of the decisions that were taken during the February meeting. Different Committee reports that were presented as well as the minutes can be found at the following link: https://www.lbpsb.qc.ca/information-from-council/?#decision

  1. The draft Student Evaluation and Promotion Policy will be shared with the School Board’s consultative partners for feedback beginning the week of February 23, Feedback will be accepted until May 15, 2026, and a final version of the policy will be considered for adoption by the Council of Commissioners on May 25, 2026.
  2. The updated Policy concerning Tobacco, Drugs and Alcohol has been adopted and takes effect on February 23, 2026.
  3. A five-year external auditing services contract has been awarded to MNP LLP following a public tender process. The contract, beginning March 1, 2026, ensures independent financial oversight and accountability for the School Board.
  4. The School Board will renew its photocopier lease agreements with Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd for one additional year, as needed, under the same terms and conditions. This ensures continued access to essential printing and copying services across schools and centres.

The School Board will participate in a group purchasing agreement through the Centre d’acquisitions gouvernementales for office supplies. This collaborative approach helps secure competitive pricing and manage costs over a multi-year period.
