Council Summary June 2025

To ensure members of the Lester B. Pearson School Board community remain up- to-date regarding what transpires at regular Council of Commissioners meetings, the Department of Communications and Community Development sends out summaries of the different decisions that are taken following each meeting.

  1. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Lester Pearson School Board call on the government to revise the draft budgetary rules to withdraw budget cuts it had announced and that the government reinstate the rule allowing school boards to access their accumulated surplus and that to be adequately prepared in the event that the government were to maintain these unjustified budgetary constraints, the Council of Commissioners mandate the Administration to request authorization to submit a deficit budget.
  2. The Council of Commissioners approved that the 2025-2028 Three-Year Plan of Allocation and Destination of Immovables of the Lester B. Pearson School Board be adopted.
  3. The Council of Commissioners approved that Commissioner di Bello be designated as delegate of the Lester B. Pearson School Board to the Board of the Comité de Gestion de la Taxe Scolaire de l’Ile de Montréal; and that Commissioner M. Boyer be designated as substitute and that both designations take effect on September 1, 2025, and remain in effect until otherwise decided by the Council of Commissioners of the Lester B. Pearson School Board.
  4. The Council of Commissioners approved that Commissioners Bulgarelli Vero and S. Hossaini represent the Lester B. Pearson School Board at the Canadian School Boards Association Congress (CSBA) to be held virtually on July 3 and 4, 2025 at the cost of $500 per Commissioner.
  5. The Council of Commissioners approved the Lester Pearson School Board’s participation in the Centre d’acquisition gouvernementales group purchasing of furniture (other than classroom) for a 24- month term with a possibility of renewal for two additional 12-month terms and one additional 6-month term.
  6. The Council of Commissioners approved the Lester Pearson School Board’s participation in the Centre d’acquisition gouvernementales group purchasing of printers, copiers and toners for a 36-month term with no option of renewing.
