Council Summary November 2024

To ensure members of the Lester B. Pearson School Board community remain up-to-date regarding what transpires at regular Council of Commissioners meetings, the Department of Communications and Community Development sends out summaries of the different decisions that are taken following each meeting.

Administrative Staffing Change
1. The Council of Commissioners approved that the administrative assignment change described in the chart below take effect on January 6, 2025:
Other Administrative Decisions
2. The Council of Commissioners approved that effective November 18, 2024, Allison Saunders be appointed Vice-Chair of the Council of Commissioners of the Lester B. Pearson School Board.
3. The Council of Commissioners approved that, effective November 18, 2024, the following Commissioners be designated as members of the Executive Committee until November 1, 2026:
• Commissioner M. Boyer as Chair;
• Commissioner L. Bulgarelli Vero as Vice-Chair;
• Chair J. Kelley as a member;
• Commissioner M. Baron;
• Commissioner A. Berryman;
• Commissioner L. Dalterio;
• Commissioner F. di Bello;
• Commissioner A. Gross Charszan;
• Commissioner M. Kashetsky;
• Commissioner E. Olsthoorn
4. The Council of Commissioners approved that for the 2024-2025 school year, Leah Al-Shourbaji and Lujain Hamdaqa be appointed as Student Commissioners at the Lester B. Pearson School Board.
5. The Council of Commissioners approved that the members of Council be mandated to attend schools and centres Governing Board meetings at their invitation in order to provide and receive information related to the school or centre, the Council of Commissioners or the community until the next school elections to be held on November 5, 2028.
6. The Council of Commissioners approved that effective November 30, 2024, Me François Hamel be designated as Person in Charge of Ethics and Integrity for the Lester B. Pearson School Board; and LBPSB’s Procedure to Facilitate the Disclosures of Wrongdoings be rescinded.
7. The Council of Commissioners approved that a sports protocol be signed for the 2024-2025 school year with the Fédération québécoise d’athlétisme and their mandatary Club d’athlétisme St-Laurent Select Inc. as well as with the Fédération du baseball amateur du Québec Inc. and their mandatary Les clubs de baseball Les Marquis ltée.
8. The Council of Commissioners approved that Commissioner Alaina Gross Charszan be designated as representative of LBPSB on the Board of Directors of QESBA for the remainder of the term.
9. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Lester B. Pearson School Board request to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec a permanent authorization to provide the Professional Bread Making Program number 5870.
