Council Summary October 2025

To ensure members of the Lester B. Pearson School Board community remain up-to-date regarding what transpires at regular Council of Commissioners meetings, the Department of Communications and Community Development sends out summaries of the different decisions that are taken following each meeting.
Please find below highlights of some of the decisions that were taken during the October 27th meeting. Different Committee reports that were presented as well as the minutes can be found at the following link:

1. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Lester B. Pearson School Board adopt and transmit, to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec, its 2025-2026 operating, investment and debt service balanced budget with anticipated revenues and expenses of $ 427, 294, 908.
2. The Council of Commissioners approved that the document entitled Council Committees Membership Chart, dated October 27, 2025, be adopted and that the chart be posted on the Council of Commissioners webpage.
3. The Council of Commissioners approved that Commissioners L. Dalterio and M. Shaheed represent the Lester B. Pearson School Board at the QUESCREN Education and Vitality Forum 2025 to be held in Montreal from November 5 to 7, 2025; and that expenses be reimbursed in accordance with the School Board’s Policy governing Commissioners’ Local Travel, Conference and Other Expenses.
4. The Council of Commissioners approved that the request be made to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec to include in the Plan Québécois des Infrastructures 2026-2036, under Mesure 50512 – Ajout d’espace pour la Formation Professionnelle, the transformation of space at Verdun Adult and Career Centre to accommodate the new program.
5. The Council of Commisisoners approved that the request be made to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec to include in the Plan Québécois des Infrastructures 2026-2036, under Mesure 50511 – Ajout d’espace pour la formation Générale, the installation of six new portable classrooms at Evergreen Elementary School.
6. The Council of Commissioners approved the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s participation in the Centre d’acquisitions gouvernementales (CAG) group purchasing of high-volume printing paper for a 36-month term with the possibility of renewing for one additional year and that approval be given for a maximum budgetary price of $1,400,000 before taxes.
7. The Council of Commissioners approved that the Lester B. Pearson School Board withdraw from the Quebec English School Board Association (QESBA)’s stay application challenging the budgetary rules, while maintaining its participation in the challenge on the merits.
