CSC

Hello, my name is Kayleigh Paré and I’m a co-chair on the Central Students Committee. I go to MacDonald High School in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and I’m graduating this year! I was first introduced to the Central Students’ Committee through my leadership teacher Mr. Chang. He was the one that said I could be great for this committee, and he was right.
On my very first meeting with the CSC, I got nominated to be a co-chair by one of my fellow Mac representatives, Naomi De Forest. Natasha and Emma had already been elected, so Phoebe* and I become the newest CSC executives. I was so excited to be on such an amazing team, I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people. We all share the same goals and plan to do big things. I was nominated co-chair because I want to make a difference. I always knew that I could do something great, even if it’s just getting more people to know about the CSC.

Something I like about CSC is that it gives students a voice. It lets us voice our opinions and feelings in situations that need our input. It gives students a sense of power even if you aren’t an executive because everyone’s voice is wanted. Right now, CSC is covering topics concerning menstrual products, LGBTQ+ friendly curriculum, recycling and composting, and many more things.
We’re now planning a Teen Summit made for students who want the topics they care about to be heard. I think it’s a great opportunity for people to come out of their comfort zone and meet new people and share ideas together in an open community. I really hope that CSC can really make a difference in the lives of students and parents, now and forever.
I want to say a big thank you to Mr. Chang for pushing me to do this, a big thank you to Naomi for nominating me, and of course a huge thank you to my parents for supporting me all the time. I love you all!

*Editor’s note: Phoebe Gervais resigned her post on the CSC Executive in January.
