On Saturday, May 25th, Clearpoint Elementary held its 9th Annual Girls in Motion at Clearpoint (GIMAC) event, a profoundly empowering experience for both girls and their mothers. The day was filled with captivating workshops and enlightening guest speakers, all contributing to the theme of “I CARE.”

The event featured some truly inspiring guest speakers, including Andi Kaskotom, a volunteer firefighter, Master Corporal Laurence Allard of the Canadian Armed Forces, and Agent Sylvia De Sousa from the SPVM. Each of these remarkable women shared their unique experiences and career journeys, broadening the scope of career choices for our young attendees and inspiring them to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

In addition to the inspiring talks, the day was enriched by a variety of interactive workshops designed to equip the girls with practical skills. Jamie Brassard led a CPR training session, providing essential life-saving skills. Ms. Iliana facilitated a Zine Making workshop, encouraging artistic expression and fostering creativity. Sensei Meghan Greig instructed a Self-Defense class, empowering the girls with techniques to protect themselves and build confidence.

A big shoutout goes to all the girls on the Planning Committee for their dedication and hard work in making this event a success: Julia R., Aria C., Olivia M., Quinn B., Caelyn G., Emma M-Y., Gable S., Kate D., Marley C., Vienna C., and Victoria B. Their commitment and enthusiasm brought this event to life. Additionally, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Lara and Ms. Maryam for their assistance and support.

Special thanks and appreciation are due to Ms. Louise, Ms. Ashley, and Ms. Iliana for orchestrating such a memorable and impactful event. Their efforts ensured that GIMAC continues to be a transformative experience that fosters empowerment and strengthens the bond between mothers and their daughters.

GIMAC is more than just a committee; it is a movement that has been transforming lives for nearly a decade. It provides a platform for young girls to learn, grow, and be inspired. The success of this year’s event reaffirms our commitment to empowering the next generation of women and nurturing the special bond they share with their mothers.
