International Students Experience Montreal Winter
by Chloë Ranaldi
International students studying at the Lester B. Pearson School Board had the unique opportunity to dive into the magic of Montreal’s winter during a snow tubing adventure at Mount Royal Park on Friday, February 7th, 2025.
For many of these students, this was their first time tubing, making it an exciting and unforgettable introduction to the city’s winter season.
The snowy slopes, exhilarating speed, and crisp winter air created a perfect backdrop for them to embrace the season’s charm.
“This event gives them the chance to experience winter firsthand, something that might be completely new for many of them,” said Gianluca Muia, Manager of the International Programs Department at the Lester B. Pearson School Board.
“Some of them may even love it so much that they’ll want to do it again. They’ll talk to their homestay families or parents, and they’ll ask to come back on their own next time.”
He says organized activities like these at the school board are important, to help create a sense of community with all the students and their families.
For Chris Zhou, a student from Jiangsu, China, the experience was particularly special.
“I like it because I come from China, and in my hometown, it’s hot and not very cold,” he shared with City News.
This event not only introduced international students to one of Montreal’s signature winter activities but also allowed them to bond with other international students, explore the winter landscape, and create memories that will stay with them long after the snow has melted.
