Lakeside Academy Graduate Sets Sights on a Career in Film

by Marilyn Santucci
For graduating Lakeside Academy student Mirakle Roberts, a passion that began with a camera and a creative curiosity has grown into a clear vision for the future.

After graduation, Roberts will be attending film school, where he hopes to further develop his skills in filmmaking and visual storytelling while pursuing a career in the film industry.

“I discovered my passion for filmmaking a few years ago when I started experimenting with cameras and creating videos of my own. What began as a hobby quickly became something I genuinely loved. I realized that filmmaking allowed me to tell stories, express creativity, and capture moments in a way that connected with people.”

Throughout his time at Lakeside, Roberts says the school helped prepare him for the next chapter of his journey. The experiences he gained in the classroom and through school activities taught him valuable lessons about discipline, responsibility, and perseverance, while the encouragement of teachers helped build his confidence.

He credits the support of staff and involvement in creative projects with helping him develop skills that will serve him well in the future. At the same time, it is the friendships he formed during high school that he says will remain his favourite memory.

As he looks ahead to film school, Roberts is eager to collaborate with other aspiring filmmakers and learn from experienced professionals. He is particularly excited about strengthening his storytelling abilities and gaining more hands-on experience in the craft.

“My long-term goal is to become a professional filmmaker and cinematographer, creating films that leave a lasting impact on audiences. I hope to work on meaningful projects, tell compelling stories, and continue pushing myself creatively throughout my career.”

While Roberts has ambitious goals for the future, he also hopes to inspire other students who are considering pursuing their own passions after graduation.

“Don’t be afraid to take chances and follow what genuinely interests you. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but if you’re willing to work hard, stay consistent, and keep learning, you’ll continue moving closer to your goals. Believe in yourself and don’t let fear stop you from pursuing what you love.”

With film school on the horizon and a passion for storytelling driving him forward, Roberts is ready to begin the next stage of his creative journey.
