As the Toronto Blue Jays celebrate their 50th season, Jays Care Foundation is recognizing 50 outstanding educators from across Canada who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to creating inclusive, positive, and engaging experiences for students through baseball.
Viviana has been recognized for her remarkable dedication, creativity, and impact as a leader in the LaSalle Elementary Senior Girls at Bat program. Now in its third year at LaSalle Elementary Senior, the program provides girls with opportunities to develop their baseball skills, build confidence, and discover the value of teamwork and leadership.
Viviana’s journey with Girls at Bat began in the program’s very first year, when she participated as a player while also taking on the role of junior coach. Since then, she has continued to grow as a leader and mentor, helping inspire the next generation of young female athletes. As a coach, Viviana helps lead activities, demonstrates skills, encourages participants to challenge themselves and creates a welcoming environment where girls of all abilities can learn and succeed. Her patience, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with younger students make her a positive role model who shows girls that leadership is about supporting others as much as it is about athletic ability.
A former captain of the LaSalle Elementary Senior Girls Basketball Team from 2021 to 2025, Viviana now attends LaSalle Community Comprehensive High School (LCCHS). Despite moving on to high school, she regularly returns to LaSalle Elementary Senior on pedagogical days, mini days, and weekends to coach and participate in tournaments. Her commitment to giving back demonstrates the lasting impact of school sports and the importance of positive student role models.
The LaSalle Elementary Senior community is incredibly proud of Viviana and grateful for her continued dedication to our students. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition, Viviana!
