Maple Grove and Lakeside Academy
Come Together for Shoebox Campaign
by Chloë Ranaldi
Maple Grove Elementary School and Lakeside Academy IB World High School teamed up for the Montreal Shoebox project.
Grade 8 students at Lakeside Academy IB World High School were paired up with Grade 6 students from Maple Grove Elementary School.
The shoeboxes were brought in by students and then filled with donated essential hygiene items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, ect.
All the boxes will be distributed to about 50 local organizations that support women in Montreal.
Together, the students picked which essential items they should use to fill the holiday shoeboxes.
They also wrote handwritten notes for the women receiving the boxes, so they could spread some holiday warmth in each box.
In addition to collecting essential items for women in situations of need, the shoebox project also showed students the importance of coming together and giving back to the community.
In total, the students made 120 shoeboxes that will be distributed to the local organizations that support women.
A huge thank you to Maple Grove & Lakeside for your kindness!
