Meet the New Student Commissioners: Seifeldeen Saad and Eliza Tagg
by Marilyn Santucci
The Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB) is proud to welcome two new student commissioners to its Council: Seifeldeen (Seif) Saad from Pierrefonds Community High School and Eliza Tagg from Beaconsfield High School.
Both Seif and Eliza are passionate, driven, and eager to represent the voices of students across the board.
Seif Saad, a Grade 11 student at Pierrefonds Community High School, brings curiosity, leadership, and a strong sense of responsibility to his new role. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Seif moved to Canada at the age of four and attended several schools within the board, including Verdun and Riverview Elementary. Alongside his academic achievements, Seif is a student-athlete and a leader—captaining his school’s robotics team while also competing in wrestling.

Seif’s love for science has guided much of his educational journey. “I love learning about the world and figuring out how everything works,” he shared. “My favourite areas are bioengineering and chemistry because they appeal to my sense of curiosity.” Inspired by former student commissioner Lujain Hamdaqa, Seif decided to step up and represent his peers. “I’ve always wanted to be in a position where I can not only represent student voices but also make decisions that actively benefit them,” he explained.
He describes the role of student commissioner as “similar to that of a senator,” representing student concerns to decision-makers who can implement real change. During his term, Seif hopes to strengthen his leadership and problem-solving skills while promoting initiatives that support student well-being, school spirit, and sustainability. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue science at John Abbott College and McGill University, with dreams of becoming a bioengineer or genetic engineer.
Eliza Tagg, also in Grade 11, joined the LBPSB community after moving from Calgary to Montreal in 2022. A student at Beaconsfield High School, Eliza shares Seif’s enthusiasm for the sciences—particularly chemistry, math, and physics. “I like understanding the logic behind the equations I learn,” she said. “I really enjoy knowing how and why things work.”

Eliza’s journey to becoming a student commissioner began with her involvement in the Central Students’ Committee (CSC), where she witnessed firsthand the positive impact student initiatives can have. “I was inspired by projects like last year’s menstrual product drive,” she said. “It was amazing to see so many people work together to support a cause that restores dignity and helps others.”
In her new role, Eliza hopes to empower other students through leadership opportunities. “Being part of the CSC taught me how to be a better leader, and I want to pass that on,” she explained. Beyond school, she plans to continue her studies in science and remain active in community service.
Both Seif and Eliza bring a spirit of collaboration, empathy, and innovation to the Council, qualities that embody the best of the Lester B. Pearson student community.
