Science Fair PCHS 2025

Montreal Regional Science Fair

The Montreal Regional Science Fair was held at Pierrefonds Community High School from March 25th to 27th. Hundreds of students from across Montreal presented their projects to a panel of judges, all competing for a spot at the 2025 Hydro-Quebec Super Expo Sciences provincial fair. This year, the projects focused on the theme of artificial intelligence.

The Lester B. Pearson School Board was well represented, with 22 projects on display. The High Schools included Lakeside Academy, Macdonald High School, and Pierrefonds Community High School. The event took place over three days and many of our students received awards and made it to the finals.

LBPSB Finalists

Three teams from the LBPSB are headed to the provincials in April.

Adam Hamdaqa from PCHS earned the gold medal (intermediate) for his project, The AI Showdown. In addition to this prestigious win, he received the highest distinction, the McGill University Engineering Award ($500), and the Young Talent Award, which covers the tuition fees for the first year of a bachelor’s degree at any institution within the Université du Québec network.

Hedi Patel and Alysha Vania Azzahra from PCHS, qualified for the finals with their project PILLpilot: An Automatic Pill Dispenser. They also received highest distinction, the McGill University Faculty of Engineering Award ($500), Promoting Opportunities for Women in Engineering McGill University Award ($100), and the Shad Canada Program Scholarship ($750).

Raphael Ismailov from Lakeside Academy earned the gold medal (junior) for project, When Earth Passes Gas. In addition, he received great distinction, the McGill University Faculty of Science Earth and Planetary Science Award ($100), and the McGill University Faculty of Science Geography Award ($100).
