Staff Appreciation Letter from the Director General

During the week of February 10th, as part of Staff Appreciation Week, the Director General Cindy Finn wrote an letter to employees. The letter was included with chocolate bars, a token of appreciation, sent to all the schools and centres, along with the departments of Head Office. We are reproducing it here, if you’d like to read it, or re-read it.
It is Staff Appreciation Week, and I would like to take a moment of your time to extend my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to each one of you. Your dedication and hard work contribute to making the Lester B. Pearson School Board a truly exceptional organization.
Our schools, centres, and departments provide our students with the necessary skills needed to navigate our complex and challenging world. Your contributions to our core mission, whether it be as a teacher, support staff, non-teaching professional or administrator – are critical to creating and enriching opportunities for growth and success. Your unwavering commitment to the students we serve, their families, as well as your colleagues is demonstrated daily.
We strive to foster a sense of community throughout our school board. The collaborative spirit that is infused in the work we do, the dedication to teamwork, and the willingness to go above and beyond have helped create a positive and nurturing environment for both staff and students alike. Know that your contribution to these feelings of belonging and inclusion is remarkable and invaluable.
The school year is made of up memorable moments; the challenges are offset by the accomplishments and small victories we witness every day. You shape these moments and help to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to transform their futures and, ultimately, the world around them. This is a profound responsibility, and it is one that you fulfill with excellence and compassion.
Recognition of your efforts is deserving of appreciation all year long, but this week affords an additional opportunity to truly celebrate our accomplishments and highlight the role you play in making a positive difference in education.
I am incredibly grateful work alongside such a dedicated team. Thank you for everything you do.
