Summer Construction Projects
by Darren Becker
This summer, the LBPSB invested $25 million to upgrade its schools and buildings.
As students and staff return to classrooms this month, they may notice that over the summer, the Lester B. Pearson School Board undertook a series of construction projects at more than a dozen schools aimed at providing modernized and upgraded facilities across its territory. In total, more than $25
million was invested in different indoor and outdoor renovation projects including:
1) A new synthetic playing field;
2) Bathroom renovations;
3) Pavement work;
4) Bathroom and locker room renovations;
5) Repairing hallway floors;
6) Installation of new stage curtains;
7) Staircase repairs.
The summer months offer a critical window for improvement, as students and staff are away and construction can proceed without disruption to learning. The work reflects the board’s ongoing commitment to investing in physical spaces across its network.
This year’s projects reflect the LBPSB’s ongoing commitment to delivering improved spaces for students and staff.
While students may not notice every detail behind the walls or in the ceilings, the impact of these changes will be felt in the form of modernized environments. As the new academic year begins, the school board is proud to welcome students and staff back into buildings that are better equipped than ever to support learning and well-being.
