LBPSB Schools Raise Major Funds with Annual Terry Fox Run

by Helena Tsitouras

Every fall, the Lester B. Pearson School Board’s Elementary and Secondary schools dedicate time to honour a Canadian Hero, Terry Fox. Schools run in commemoration of Terry Fox and the legacy he left behind. Additionally, donations are collected from the community by students for The Terry Fox Foundation, a Foundation that raises money for cancer research.

This year, schools went above and beyond resulting in an impressive grand total. Schools from the Lester B. Pearson School Board collected $143,469.36 for the Terry Fox Foundation!

The schools which had the highest total donations included Sunshine Academy ($8,233.27), Edgewater Elementary School ($8,320.00), Lakeside Academy ($8,917.98), Beaconsfield High School ($12,090.00), and Terry Fox Elementary School who honoured their namesake with a remarkable donation of $21,924.98!
