Westpark Harvest 2024

Westpark Elementary School Hosts its Annual Harvest Fair

by Chloë Ranaldi

Students were proudly selling an array of handcrafted items at their school’s annual harvest fair the week of October 7th.

The Students in the SEED program cultivated different plants, like lavender, and mint from Westpark’s School Garden.

With the products the students cultivated, they created different items to sell for the Montreal Children’s Hospital and The West Island Women’s Shelter.

Those items included handcrafted candles, soap, playdough, as well as scented oils.

The students were involved in the whole cycle– from composting in their classrooms to using the compost to fertilize the garden, to then transforming the items into candles and other goods.

The year-long initiative taught students responsibility, and the importance of recycling materials, and finding multiple uses for each product.
