Window Shopping, Anyone?

submitted by Janna De Rycke, Assistant Director
The Interior Decorating and Visual Display students at Pearson Electrotechnology, guided by their stellar teachers, always manage to outdo themselves. As graduation approaches, students embark on a journey where retail marketing and artistic talent collide. Their objective: the window display—the crown jewel competency of the program.

Last spring, PEC underwent some renovations, and new window display casings that replicate industry standards were installed.

The projects, before the addition of the display casings, had always been breathtaking, but now, upon entering the building through our student entrance, everyone who comes in is welcomed by life-size display windows that would impress even the legendary Ogilvy window designers.

The themes of the projects are unique to every cohort. Students are taught to manipulate material and put together plans during the preparatory portion of the competency. Guided by their teacher, they form teams and begin to make magic happen, bringing ideas, plans and sketches to life. These projects are big undertakings that often demand revision, do-overs, realignment and long hours after school.

Although this may be one of the summits of the program, all modules consist of producing projects that embody the highest standards in Interior Decorating and visual display.
Have a look, it’s always a good time for some window shopping!

Here are the latest installations inspired by the theme of “decades”. Bear in mind that the majority of the elements in the window displays are handcrafted by the students.

The students responsible for these window displays: Michelle Baron, Ishan Chaudhary, Gurkirat Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Fathima Shafna Mohamed Sally, Leanne Monte, Muskranpreet Kaur, Pardeep Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Parshant Sharma, Arshpreet Singh, Prabjhot Singh
